Grand Design RV breaks ground on new expansion
One of the newest RV companies near Elkhart is ready for a big expansion project. This week, owners of Grand Design broke ground on what will be a new manufacturing building. The complex will be over 100 thousand square feet, where Grand Design will build its new Imagine lightweight trailers.
The Middlebury company has been open less than five years, but already has around 800 employees, and will hire around 100 more once the new building is finished. The new building is expected to be finished by August.
"We kind of set out to do it our own way, different from some of the people who we've been around, and it's paying off for us and our customers and our dealers," Grand Design co-owner Bill Fenech said.
"In Elkhart County, we have an amazing work force to draw from, and we've been fortunate to tap into the best of the best," explained co-owner Ron Fenech. "It sounds like platitude, it's really not. Our workers are phenomenal."
Construction could be finished by August.
The Fenechs are also starting work on a second building, which will become a new service center.
