The Campoholics: Living the RV Dream and Giving Back with Grand Design
Mike and Missy Cook, better known in the RV community as The Campoholics, are a dynamic duo who turned a love for camping into a full-time lifestyle—and a platform for education, inspiration, and community impact. Their journey began in 2017 when they traded their 3,000-square-foot home for a 27-foot travel trailer after a spontaneous visit to the Hershey RV Show. What started as a few weekend getaways quickly evolved into a full-time adventure on the open road.
Going Full-Time in their GDRV Momentum
Mike, a retired police officer and Army National Guard veteran, and Missy, who recently retired herself, now live full-time in a Grand Design Momentum. Their passion for RVing and their approachable, down-to-earth personalities have made them beloved figures in the Grand Design RV (GDRV) community. Through their brand, The Campoholics, they share their experiences, tips, and humor with thousands of followers online and in person at RV rallies across the country.
Making An Impact
Their relationship with Grand Design RV goes far beyond brand ambassadorship. As members of the GDRV Impact Team, Mike and Missy play a vital role in community outreach efforts that align with Grand Design’s mission to make a positive impact wherever the road leads.
The Impact Team is the heart of Grand Design’s community engagement, organizing volunteer events, educational seminars, and charitable initiatives that bring RVers together for a greater purpose.
Mike and Missy contribute to this mission by helping coordinate opportunities to give back at many of the Grand Design RV regional rallies - including blood drives, National Park clean ups, food pantry sorting or making blankets (just a few examples!). They also lead educational seminars, where they share practical advice, product reviews, and personal stories from life on the road.
Their sessions are known for being both informative and entertaining, filled with laughter and real-world insights that resonate with RVers of all experience levels. They also offer walkthroughs of their own rig, giving fellow travelers a firsthand look at how to live comfortably and efficiently in a Grand Design RV
Partnering for a Purpose
What sets the Impact Team apart from traditional brand ambassadors is their focus on community service.
While ambassadors like The Campoholics help promote the RV lifestyle through social media and events, Impact Team members actively engage in charitable work—such as organizing blood drives, supporting animal shelters, and volunteering at places like the Ronald McDonald House. Mike and Missy embody both roles, using their platform to inspire others while also rolling up their sleeves to give back.
Their story is a testament to the freedom and fulfillment that RV life can offer—and to the power of community. Through their partnership with Grand Design, Mike and Missy have not only found a way to live their dream but also to help others along the way.
As they continue to travel the country, educate fellow RVers, and support meaningful causes, The Campoholics remind us all that the road is more than a path—it’s a place to connect, give back, and live fully.
